My asparagus lovin' baby

Like mother, like daughter. Only eating the gravy out of her mashed potato bowl.

Such a trusting face.

Updates

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. A lot has been going on around here. To get you up to speed here is a list of events:

1. bye-bye bottle. We've stuck to our guns about not spending Bree to bed with a bottle. She has cried herself to sleep for the past week but its getting better. Tonight she only wimpered for 30 seconds or so before she past out. My plan this weekend is to pack up the bottles for good. She has also been waking up in the morning with a dry diaper so that is also a plus in the semi-near future of potty training.

2. Hurry up and wait is the name of the game for my bathroom. We ran out and bought everything and now have to wait for steps 3, 4, 5, and 6 to be done first. Right now it is primed and ready to be painted tomorrow night. You'll just have to wait until I post pictures to see which color I picked. :o) Other then that we're waiting on a friend to finish the plumbing for the shower and drawers to be sanded. Hopefully only another week and its done!!

3. Our furnace is original to the house so that makes it a whopping 35 years old. Not very efficient anymore. So we had someone give us a bid and since have been discussing the pros and cons on replacing it now or waiting. I don't see the point in waiting. Yes its a lot of money right now but right now we both have good jobs/incomes so now would be the best time. But because it is a lot of money (and thats scary) Jim would like to wait. I guess you could say I won out because they are coming next Friday to install the new furance and AC!!

4. Speaking of jobs, there has been a lot of drama at the library lately. Needless to say the economy has been bad but because of years of smart spending and saving the library hasn't been affected. Until now. Its been projected that the 2009 budget for the library will be cut by $93,000. Ouch. We've done what we can by ordering less, not turning on all computers/lights, just eliminating things here and there but by Januarys reports that wasn't enough. The library board had no other choice but to take drastic measures. Upcoming changes include raising fines, cost of faxing and printing, which I know to outsiders it doesn't sound like much but when we have patrons that owe us $200 or more on 10 cents a day per book and now we've raised our fines to 25 cents per day per book, its a lot. We're also saying goodbye to two coworkers. :o( The library will no longer be open on Sundays and Fridays which means everyone will lose 7 hours of pay per week. Honestly, with sooo many lay-offs and other budget cuts, losing 7 hours isn't so bad. For me personally, I couldn't be luckier. I'm still brining home enough to make my mortgage payments (which is all I've ever done and the rest just stayed in the savings) plus with being closed on Fridays I now have a three day weekend every week!! That also means I'm home more with Bree which is all I've ever wanted anyways. The library board will re-evaluate our financial status in three months and see if more changes are needed. Trying to find the silver lining here, all the bigwigs on tv are saying they project an incline in our financial situation by the end of the year. Lets all pray that happens.

5. As for Bree, not much has changed that I've noticed. I have a lot of pictures I need to post so check back often.

Mothering Instincts

Bree is becoming more and more attached to her baby doll and now the mothering instincts have kicked in.

Dinner with the Queen

Okay so maybe we are not quite ready for dining with the Queen but we're getting there. Bree is getting closer to mastering eating with a fork. Although Mommy needs to be sure her food is really cut apart. You'll see.

Daddy's little helper

Of course those precious moments that you want to capture are over by the time you get the camera. However, Jim was able to get a small video of Bree helping him work on the bathroom.

Waste of time

I have recently learned that folding laundry while my child is awake is pointless. Here is a video of my little "helper":

Bree has also been teething lately. I can't tell which teeth are trying to come in but it is making her very sleepy (which is nice) but also very cranky (not so nice). Sunday morning she woke up crying at 4am and pretty much didn't stop for the rest of the day. Eventually we had to bring her into our bed just so one of us could get some sleep.

Then the rest of the day was a bunch of pointless whining and laziness. And again my laundry was spread all over the living room. But it kept her entertained for the most part so I shouldn't complain.

And the finalists are...

Disclaimer: the colors on the camera/computer are no where close to being true to life.

Fantasy Fair: Purple, bold, I love it.

Aura of Evergreen: Green, calming, maybe a little too "grown-up" color, after all this is basically going to be Bree's bathroom.

Yellow Brick Road: Yellow, cheery, possibly a little blinding when the light is on.

I love each one of these colors but I'm still not sure what to do with them. Its back to the questions I initially had.

Do I have an accent wall?
Do I paint the top half of the walls one color and the bottom another?
Do I just stick with one color for the whole room?
Do I paint stripes (same color just use matte and glossy)? Thanks for the idea Dad
Do I paint stripes on the bottom and still paint the top another color with the border in the middle?

The possibilities are endless...

Operation Color

With a possible poker tournament looming and with the added motivation of having a live-in guest for a while, my bathroom is moving along quickly. Of course, having in-laws that love helping out also helps things move along faster. In one weekend plus a Monday night:

1. the old linoleum ripped out (to take care of the mold problem before putting the new floor in)

2. under layment laid

3. my new linoleum put in (I didn't chose any of the options previously shared with you)

4. shower base and walls installed

5. drywall fill-in stuff applied

6. some of the walls sanded (thats my job, where's my motivation?)

All I have to say is....

...Thank you, thank you, thank you Andrea and Michael for coming home and giving us a reason to get this done faster!!

...Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom and Dad for being around and helping us get this done!!

Other than the sanding, the last step before this all comes together rests on my shoulders:

300 days and counting...

...until Christmas!!

Daddy's Video

Jim took the time to record a video so I thought I should take the time to post it. This is just a little glimpse into Daddy and daughter time and takes place every night at dinnertime. She's so happy.

Beware: The video is a little shakey at the beginning and end.

Mommy's New Toy

Bree isn't the only one around here who gets new toys. Although baby toys don't make me as sore.

Its a Total Gym 1000 that uses your own weight for resistance. Its not the exact one that Chuck Norris and Christy Brinkley sell (that costs around $1200) but its works just as well. Its even gotten me out of bed at 6:20am on purpose!!!

Shake that groove thing

Before a hard day of toddler exercising you must warm up:

Get down with your bad self:

Don't forget to work those legs:

15 months old!!

Bree is 15 months old and as of her doctors appointment yesterday she is now 26.3 pounds and 32 1/2 inches tall.

She can no longer:
Stand up or walk under a table without bending (this has caused many tears and bruises).

She no longer lets us:
Feed her anything.

She can now:
See into the top drawers in the bathroom cabinets by standing on her tippy toes.

She is almost:
Running (she falls a lot).

We have begun:
Brushing her teeth (she thinks its a straw).

We are working on:
Eliminating the bedtime bottle (and bottles all together).

Bree is awesome at:
Hugs, hugs, hugs.

Creating a Monster!!!

What have I done?

It all began when we lived on Cherry Street and decided to carpet our house with navy blue carpeting. I loved it. However, navy blue plus a white cat does not work together. I developed a sweeping/vacuuming fetish. To this day, I vacuuming all the time. Sometimes I'll vacuum in the morning and then again after Bree goes to bed. Alas, my daughter is now developing my sweeping quirk.

And this is what happens when you turn the vacuum off.

Missed Opportunities - Beware:Long Post Ahead!!

I have absolutely not a clue of what kept me from posting all week long. I missed many opportunities to blog about things as they happen and now I have to play catch up.

1. Bree now has two molars. One of them has been working its way up for a while now but I was completely shocked to see the one on the other side. She really handles teething great. (Thank you Lord!!) She was a little more tired than normal but thats it. She has also been having a lot of diaper rashes lately and supposedly thats another sign of teething. Overall I just thought maybe she was coming down with a cold but I'm glad it turned out to just be teeth. Here is a picture of her "cookie monster" smile and you can somewhat see her new molars:

2. Bree has a Winnie the Pooh blanket that, when she's at home, doesn't leave her sight. She's so attached to it that it has earned her the nickname of Linus (from Peanuts).

This is just a picture of Bree trying to climb over her baby gate but in the bottom left hand corner you can see her beloved blanket.

Learning the all important life lessons of video gaming from Daddy and again the blanket is off to the left side.

And finally we had just gotten up for the day and Mom forgot to grab the blanket.

3. Bree, along with any child, has a fascination of buttons and knobs so our new stereo is the best "toy" ever. Here's Bree trying to look all innocent (and so grown up I might add) but we know better.

4. Bree and Grumpy Bear chillin' watching the snow melt.

5. Bree is playing Mary Poppins (even though she hasn't seen it yet). :O)

6. At what age do kids stop eating this and never touch it again?

7. Don't you just want to pick her up and squeeze her and kiss those cheeks?!?!

8. Bree has developed this obession with opening and closing doors. Maybe its normal. Or maybe not since she likes to shut herself in the doors.

9. Last but not least just as beautiful as the sunrise last week, the sunset this week was just as gorgeous.

These are a few of my favorite things

These are just pictures that I love and want to share with everyone else.

Can't breathe. Too...Much...Pressure...

The pressure is on to make decisions about my bathroom. I had just decided today while at work that I would put my bathroom on hold if we could get cabinets for my laundry room instead. I come home from work tonight and this is what I find:

Thanks to my wonderful husband and in-laws my bathroom has offically entered the remodeling stage. YAY!! Before I have to make my decision on wall color, flooring or countertop, the shower needs to be replaced and the cabinet doors and drawers need to be sanded and stained. Basically I have time to procrastinate.

Fun in the Sun

Today it hit a whopping 38 degrees so we hit the slopes of Homecoming Hill. But first you have to have breakfast in bed.

Bree is trying to feed Jim Trix.

Of course to go sledding you need to have a hearty breakfast. Bacon and eggs. Mmmm...

Leave no crumbs behind.

Its time to bundle up.

Now its time to go sledding!! Here are some videos of our fun in the sun.

Crazy ride down the hill!

Daddy is daring! Jim (and Bree) is the blob in the middle of the screen.

Mommy even made a few trips down the hill.

And last but not least whats a day in the snow without a snowball fight. I think this borders on child abuse. :o)

Friday Night Fun
