My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss

That is exactly how I'm feeling lately. A few weeks ago (January 6th to be exact), Jim innocently suggested not replacing our bathroom cupboards but sanding and restaining them instead. Since then a snow storm and the worst stomach flu ever has kept me from making the trip to Toledo to get this project rolling. But this past weekend nothing was going to stop me from shopping and thank goodness nothing did. Now the decision making begins.

Here are the bathroom cupboards:

Here are the handles that I purchased:

And this is the border that is going in the bathroom:

Jim has discovered a stain that he just absolutely loves. I don't care for it much. I love dark colored woods and this is definately not. I know this should be a time for compromising but yet maybe this is a time to just let him have his way. After all, he let me do whatever I wanted with the landscaping. The more coats of this stain you use the more it changes.

The bottom of the wood only has one coat of stain, the middle has two coats and the top has three.

Then I also need to decide on the flooring. Since its mostly going to be Bree's bathroom linoleum is the way to go. I have narrowed it down to three options.

Option 1. Classic. Timeless. Will go with any decor.
Option 2. There is a blue tint to it that didn't show up in the picture. I like that the blue in the floor will tie into the blue in the border.
Option 3. This is very similar to what is already in my bathroom. It just has more texture and depth to it.

Right now the bathroom has wallpaper that has been painted over and not well I might add. I would like to paint the bathroom versus wallpapering again. But that will all determine what condition the walls are in after we strip them. So then here are my color choices:

Color 1: Greens. It'll make the dragons pop out more.
Color 2. Purples. brings out the details in the picture.
Color 3. Yellow. Again brings out the details in the pictures plus its nice and light and airy.
Color 4. Grays. There is just something I love about a room painted gray.

As you can see I have a lot on my mind and many decisions to make. Don't even get me started on where to place the border. At the top of the wall... In the middle... Do I paint the top half of the wall one color and the bottom another? My head is jsut spinning. Opinions would be nice.

Weekend Recap Continued

I had some problems trying to upload a video yesterday. I'm not sure why it turned so dark when I uploaded it to youtube. Sorry about that.

Bree has learned how to work the cd player in her bedroom. Actually its more of she knows how to push buttons and will push more and more buttons until something happens. However she do know where the volume button is and knows how to turn it up. Here is a video of her working her stereo and dancing her heart out. She'e really only dancing for the first 20 seconds or so. Enjoy!

Weekend Recap

I know this isn't the best picture but the sunrise Tuesday morning was absolutely beautiful. If it wasn't for my precious child getting me up at the butt-crack of dawn I would have missed this beautiful sight.

Its no surprise to anyone that I'm not the girly-est girl around. Now that I have a daughter I'm trying to set a more "feminine" example. Here's my first attempt at doing something girly with Bree:

I'm really not that bad of a toe nail painter. One year olds just don't sit still.

Aunt Andrea made a surprise trip home this weekend. This is the best picture I have.

With Aunt Andrea visiting us that can only mean one thing. Video games.

Beginning of the end?

Kids. They have to grow up sometime. I love that Bree is not really a "baby" anymore. She is becoming more independent. I am able to work on other things while she plays with her toys. Meal times are easier now that she feeds herself. However the time has come to introduce utensils. Here's how our first night went:

As a parent all you ever hear is how important the first years of a child's life are. Their minds are like sponges. Watch what you do or say because they will imitate your actions or repeat your words. We're not to the speaking part yet but here are some pictures of Bree being just like Daddy.

Bree "helping" Daddy make his decisions on Roller Coaster Tycoon.

A year old and already entering the world of technology.

Life can be so hard when you're not allowed to actually touch the computer with your hands and you really have to be creative and use to your head.

Some Days

We are having a lot more of "those kind of days".

 For example:

Christmas Day

New Years Day

Today

However, it only takes one good moment to (mostly) forgot the bad ones.

Plans are made to be broken

Like any great day - I had a plan.

A plan to come home, say 'Hi' to Bree, hop on the treadmill, play with Bree before bed, and finish the night by eating dinner while watching American Idol. I only managed to say 'Hi' to Bree, play with her, and eat dinner while watching American Idol. Eh, who needs to get on the treadmill when you can spend your time doing this:
