Weinermobile

The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile made a stop in our hometown so of course we had to go see it.  What made it even more special was that for our 2nd annual Fathers Day Trip, which I haven't posted about yet, we went to the Henry Ford Museum and saw the very first Weinermobile made!

Waiting patiently for our free hot dog!!

Thinking Cool

You don't think I'd let today, July 25th aka Christmas in July, go by without a little celebration, do you?

This was actually decorating leftover cookies from my Christmas in July Storytime a couple weeks ago.  So since we had already decorated cookies this month, we moved on to pizza, special Christmas pizzas.

I was just about to throw them into the oven when Bree started screaming that we didn't put feet on the snowman.  So we added feet.

The finished product.  It was a little sad that the snowman's eye fell off but it still tasted yummy!

That didn't go so well

Whatever Bree does,

Jacob must do too.

This picture is blurry because I wanted to capture the moment but yet not really let him eat the paint.  It didn't work.  You'll see later.

Oh yes, quite upset.  The blue paint didn't taste so good so lets try the green...

...then the brown!

Tiny handprints grow so fast

Their awkward groping soon will clasp

A ball, a book, a sweetheart's hand,

A diploma, briefcase, a wedding band.

Tiny handprints grow so strong

It doesn't take them very long

To snap a shirt, to paint, to draw

To work hard , to drive a car

Tiny handprints grow to be

A person that is quite unique

A wonderful mix of so many things

With his own feelings, thought and dreams

Tiny handprints grow to rely

On his parents to bring him up just right

His parents pray that when he's grown

He'll say their job has been well done

Tiny handprints are ours to love

The sweetest gift from God above

A miracle that never is surpassed

How sad they grow up way to fast -

Boys will be boys

What else are you supposed to do in the puddle at the end of the driveway after the only rain we've had for weeks upon weeks??

Gotta love accidental belly flops!

Thats right, buddy.  Brush it off, brush it off!

Summer Experiences #2

Whats a summer without strawberries??

We only had this many picked when a storm rolled in.  We ran for cover then decided it would just be easier and drier to just go to the fruit farms store and bought already picked strawberries.

Up next: J-A-M!

Siblings

"To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time."

Its sum-sum-summertime!

This is an excerpt from another blogger that nailed the point of summer right on the head.  Its not about being involved in every activity under the sun.  Its not about rushing from picnic to family gathering to party after party just to rush home, get baths and shoved into bed.  Its about enjoying all the little moments that make summer the season that is engrained in every memory of your childhood.  Its a time to throw schedules out the window (mostly), live life on the edge, and show the children of today what our summers used to be like.

"Summer will be about slowing down, sleeping in, picking strawberries, making jam, maybe the zoo and maybe the pool, definitely the beach and probably the playground.

We'll hunt for frogs, ride bikes, make s'mores, build forts, keep dirt forever lodged in fingernails.

We'll stay up too late reading books and get up too early to eat pancakes. We'll smell like chlorine and sunscreen for days at a time, and not once, never, not even a little bit, will we regret it."
