The Grapefruit Experience

Once upon a time my child used to eat grapefruits with me...

Now she just tortures herself by drinking the juice. You can see the pain on her face as she drinks it but she kept going back for more.

Monkey see, Monkey do

Sorry about the lack of blogging. I've been limited my time on the computer when I'm at home resulting in days gone by without a single update for you. I realized that I may have a computer obsession when in the 72 seconds it takes me to use the bathroom and wash my hands this happens...

The computer was on the coffee table when I went into the bathroom. But in that short amount of time she moved it over to the couch, climbed up, got comfortable and started surfing the net.

I have a bunch of blogs all lined up and ready to go for you.

New Years Resolution Hazard

One of my New Years resolutions was to get more organized/reduce clutter. Step one to obtaining that resolution was to go through Bree's drawers, closet and the 5, yes count them (I'll give you a moment)

bags of girl clothes that were given to me. Over the course of a day and a half I finally got all the way through Bree's room and am now ready to move on to bigger organizing projects. However, in the event of my cleaning her closet, I have inadvertently created the perfect hiding place for Bree. I don't mind the hiding part. I don't entirely mind the throwing of clothes out of the closet. Its the climbing and/or jumping out of the hiding place thats the problem.

Christmas

Ahhh...Christmas Eve. After traveling from relatives house to relatives house, it was time to go home to begin our own Christmas celebrations. But first we had to take the traditional picture of the child/children in front of the Christmas tree...

He knows when you are sleeping...

He knows when you're awake...

The budding tradition in our house is opening stockings and one present on Christmas Eve. Then its off to bed so Santa can come. She did a great job waiting patiently for her stocking.

At the time she didn't seem too excited about her toothbrush but now she wants to use it all the time, all day long.

Good thing that stupid ball was practically free since she bit a hole in it before she even went to bed.

Expecting something good...

Hair ties?! Really??!!??

Thats more like it!! FYI - since Daddy is the one who bought the silly string, Daddy is the one who gets to clean it up. :O)

We ended Christmas Eve with a (sort of, kind of) game of Hi-Ho Cherry-o.

Then it was Christmas morning and what a wonderful morning it was. From all the excitement of the day before (and lack of memory that bunches of presents awaited her under the tree), Bree slept in until almost 9:30. If only Christmas mornings of the future would start out that way. But I know by next year we'll be waking up before the birds to open presents.

My new Rachael Ray pans came in pretty handy that morning.

Jim attempting to teach her how to fish with her new puzzle. Gotta start getting ready for the summer, right?

And Bree's way of fishing. Much, much easier.

Yummy Christmas breakfast of homemade hash browns and scrambled eggs eaten on her new tray while watching the parade on tv. Can life get any better?

I have a feeling we'll need to be buying her a new magnadoodle before the new year is done.

Isn't TV wonderful

You let your kids watch Noggin/Nick Jr thinking that since its an educational, preschool channel with no commercials thats its safe, right? Here's a little something Bree has picked up from watching Yo Gabba Gabba.

Mixed Signals

Remind me again, who are we supposed to be potty training??

I think we've officially wasted more toilet paper wiping baby after she goes potty than we have on attempting to potty train Bree. How come I was not informed of this financial pitfall??

362 days and counting...

We've had another very successful year. After all that hard work, its time to start preparations for next Christmas!!

Sorry. Just couldn't help myself. Christmas pics coming soon.

The child was nestled all snug in her bed

while Mom and Daddy spoiled her by letting her stay up and watch the Grinch on the laptop.

Friday Night Fun

I love the age that Bree is at. A box of Lucky Charms is the greatest gift and surprise when brought home from the grocery store and traditions are starting to mean something. One tradition that we can kind of successfully start is Friday night pizza and video gaming in the basement.

I think Daddy likes the start of this tradition more.

And once the video games get boring its time to move on to somersaults.

Our days and evenings

Strong is my desire to post another quote from the movie "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation" however not all people would really appreciate it. (I know you're smiling out there Becki) So lets just say we've been spending a lot of our time like this....

(yes thats a readers digest magazine she's reading even though she has age appropriate bathroom reading material)

We're not actively potty training but Bree has successfully went pee on the potty twice and somewhat pooed. After the new year when car trips from house to house and town to town settle down we'll officially begin potty training. I'd like a few months off from having to buy diapers before having to start all over again.

And the winner is...

A few posts ago I asked whether Bree will be a future Broadway dancer or professional cake decorator. I believe the answer to that question would be cake decorator. As I was going through my cupboards last week Bree got a hold of my sesame seeds and cookies cutters...

Oh Christmas Tree

"We're kicking off our fun old fashion family Christmas by heading out into the country in the old front-wheel drive sleigh to embrace the frosty majesty of the winter landscape and select that most important of Christmas symbols."
