Week one of summer break and therefore also week one of being a full time stay at home mom looked a little bit like this:
It started out with a very happy birthday.
A lost tooth.
Sidewalk chalk.
Baseball season kick off and games.
Strawberry shortcake at 9pm.
Discovered the fascinating trick of turning your bike upside down, pedaling as hard as you can, and sticking whatever is closest into the spokes.
And ended our week with more camping.
We also played plenty of Mario and Tetris, took advantage of the local free movie at the cinema, did lots of laundry, visited the library, started season One of 'The Waltons' and spent the entire day outside playing with neighborhood friends. But the thing I'm most excited about, the thing I hope to follow thru on (because to be honest, life gets in the way and good intentions fall to the wayside) is this:
Reading. But not just any reading. We, as in the children and I and Jim whenever he is home, are reading the Harry Potter series. I have the book on CD to help us all follow along (especially Jacob) while doing things like folding laundry, coloring, playing Play-doh, or driving to the next camping destination. Once book one is finished, we will celebrate with pizza and a movie projector showing of the first installment.
The best part is - the children are just as excited about this as I am!
