Between town festivals and county fairs, our children have the opportunity to enjoy carnival rides 4 times a year.
But.
We've rarely let them.
The opportunity is there due to being part of a concession business. Meaning that when we are at the fairs, it is because we are working. Our children stare in wonder at the blinking lights, hearing the squeals of delight from other kids, and they ask (and beg) to go on rides. Sometimes, when help permits, we do allow them one day of ride excitement. Other times, as in the case this year, we have to say no. Rides are expensive (times three kids big enough to ride now) and we live in a world where I just can't let them ride alone and know they are safe.
But.
A 'No' now, a delay in immediate gratification means big and better things are falling into place.
Money saved from carnival wristbands + awesome Groupon =
a weekend stay at Splash Universe!!
While we were there (and part of the Groupon special), the hotel was hosting a special Luau with Moana and Maui!
They coconut bowled, they hula hooped, they swam for hours, they stayed up way past their bedtimes. We ate junk food, played games, called the serviceman to our room twice due to lack of air conditioning on an 80+ degree day, and visited Cabela's. It was a great time had by all and so much more worth the money.
