With all of the recent news coverage on the Maumee River ice jams and subsequent flooding, the curiosity in me peaked in regards to other local water sources. So on the way home from a birthday party, we went for a chilly hike in Gull's Woods to discover a beautiful Winter Wonderland.
Ice was surprisingly solid in many areas and the kids had fun attempting to "ice skate". They had a blast breaking ice where they could, discovering how thick or thin it really was and jumping on the ice to hear it creak and groan yards away. We followed the trail as far as we felt safe. Eventually it disappear into nothing but semi-frozen ground and I didn't feel like getting lost. After almost an hour in 26 degree weather, we had to beg and bribe them to head home!
Once home, it was a no brainer what needed to be done.
