Day 3 of our Holiday weekend

Day 3 of our holiday weekend was the actual 4th of July celebration. Thats means there was lots of:

mac and cheese,

corn-on-the-cob,

watermelon,

thats not right, lets try that again. watermelon,

puppy chow,

and popcorn.

Of course you can't forget the balloons,

lightning bugs (rest in peace little guy),

and fireworks.

**listen to Bree "ooohh-ing" and "aahh-ing" in the background.

Day 2 of our Holiday weekend

Day two of our holiday weekend did not go according to plan. Jim, Bree, Adrienne and I loaded into the car and set off for the zoo but with cars lined up well over a mile long waiting to get into the parking lot meant that we were destined to do other things with our day. We stopped for a quick lunch at Jim's favorite resturant, Ideal Hotdog, and set off for our next destination.

We also stopped at Oak Openings to try to catch a glimpse of animals in the wild but Bree really could not have cared less.

We did manage to find a turtle. Although Bree didn't find this too exciting either as we have two turtles at home.

Our last stop on Friday was a surprise 75th birthday party for (Great) Grandpa Dominique.

Stay tuned for Day 3 coming soon.

And so begins our Holiday weekend

Our Holiday weekend begins at Wal-Mart. How else would a story of mine begin? Actually it begins when we got home from Wal-Mart. I turned around to get Bree out of her carseat when I discovered things were not as they should be.

And in the short amount of time it took me to walk to the end of the drive to get the mail and back up to the house, she managed to do this.

I'm sure if I would have given her enough time she would gotten it completely off. I guess she was excited about getting a bath.

After everyone had their baths, it was time to clean up the house.

Then somehow when I was off doing laundry and packing for tomorrow's adventure, Jim and Bree snuck outside (yes we just had our baths and they were going outside) to play with her "new" toy.

Then it was time to come back inside and make on more memory before going to bed.

My little monkey

Single lady to single mom

This past weekend I received a much needed mini vacation from the responsibilities of being an adult. Since I had to work for a few hours on Saturday, Jim decided to take Friday off work and head up to the lake with Bree which left me home alone. It was undescribably wonderful to have the house to myself. It stayed clean all weekend. I had no need or desire to vaccuum three times during the day. I could eat breakdast, lunch and dinner at whatever time I wanted. I even read an entire book. So peaceful. So relaxing. Even working on Saturday was fun (yes work can be fun) because I taught tweens how to make stepping stones using a pizza box and quikrete.

Then came Monday. Due to not much work around here, Jim was asked to work on the cottages up at the lake. Since the lake is an hour away and that would require my darling husband to get up earlier to be to work on time, he decided to just pack his bags and stay up there for the rest of the week. I don't blame him for wanting to stay. Its supposed to be a beautiful week. Its just amazing how quickly I went from being carefree, do whatever I want whenever I want single lady to single mom, doing it all. However, with Jim gone and no other distractions, I should have plenty of time after Bree goes to bed to file her pictures in photo albums.
