A neighbor of mine is originally from Malaysia. It has been fun getting to know her and learning her culture as she explains the rhyme and reason behind various native holidays. For example: Chinese New Year.
Chinese New Year is a celebration of making it through the darkest days of Winter and into the warmer months. It is a time to clean every square inch of your house, ridding it of evil, negative spirits and thoughts, and breathing new life into it with cherry blossoms (flowers). It is also considered to be one of the most important times of the year to dine together as a family to help bring good luck and prosperity to your life.
Its a very inspiring holiday and I happily dove right into it!
