Grand Prix

Each year, our church holds an

Awana Grand Prix!

Kits are distributed to be brought home, cut down, painted, assembled, and ready to race.  And tonight was thee night.

Jacob wanted a Lightning McQueen car.
No problem

Holly wanted a purple car.
No problem.

And Bree... I'm not really sure.  She had big ideas in that head on how she wanted her car to turn out but, unfortunately, she does not possess the patience to make it happen.  However, after a few coats of repainting, it turned out just fine.

With the luck of the draw, Jacob was up to race first in the yellow lane.

But, sadly, he did not win.  Not even close.  His car never crossed the finish line.

Then it was Bree's turn in the green lane.

She did not win.  Nor did her car cross the finish line either.

Alas!  There may be hope!  Due to one car hoping the track, a time out was called, the track was inspected, and the last race was called up again for a repeat race.

Bree, still in the green lane, did win that time either.  And still did not even cross the finish line.

Then it was this chica's turn!

Her car was placed in the blue lane.

She took her place at the finish line.

On your mark...  Get set....   GO!

Dang it!  Her car never crossed the finish either!!

Then this guy was up again and it was more of the same.  He did not win again.  His car did not cross the finish line.

Same goes for Bree.  No win.  No finish line.

As this is a double elimination tournament, that means all three kids were out.

BUT!

There is a happy ending to this Grand Prix story!

Mr. Jacob, himself, won FIRST PLACE in design.

He proudly came home and placed his trophy next to his T-ball trophy and his 2nd place wrestling trophy.

"Now I have three trophies.  If I win again in wrestling, I'll have four!!"

Oh man...  All this hardware has created a monster.
